The training was supervised by Information Technology Authority and funded by Oman International Bank.
MUSCAT ----- March 31, 2010 -------- The Arab Omani Training Institute, a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), has signed an agreement to train 225 of Omani Social Security members from different Omani governorates in the Sultanate of Oman who will sit for the Cambridge Diploma in IT skills exam.
This training is funded by Oman International Bank and supervised by Information Technology Authority.
The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Social Development in Al-Khuwair by HE Sheikh Hamoud bin Ahmed Al Yahyaee, Director General of Social Welfare at the Social Development Ministry, Mr. Fahd bin Sultan Al Abri, Head of Digital Development Community at Information Technology Authority, Mr. Vai Narolker General Manager of Oman International Bank, and Mr. Majdi Al-Abiad, Executive Director of the Arab Omani Training Institute.
HE Sheikh Al Yahyaee stated that this agreement will enable members of the Social Security to obtain an internationally recognized professional certification which would provide the opportunity to compete in the labor market instead of relying entirely on Social Security salary.
He concluded by thanking the Oman International Bank, the Arab Omani Training Institute and the Information Technology Authority for their unmatched cooperation.
Meanwhile, Mr. Al-Abiad stated that the Institute made sure to provide the best services for this group of citizens in accordance with the corporate social responsibility of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization.
He added that this program is one of the specific programs aimed at education and training for the use of computers and Information Technology.
It is worth noting that the United Nations has appointed Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, chair of the Global Alliance for ICT and Development of the United Nations Economic and Social Affairs, succeeding Professor Craig Barrett, CEO of "Intel", thus becoming the first Arab to lead Global Alliance for ICT and Development.
