The International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC) Foundation announced on July 21, 2006 the IASC Foundation Education logo. The main purpose of the logo is to make it easier for the general public to distinguish the education materials produced by the IASC Foundation from the official pronouncements of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB). Further the new logo will therefore meet the concern that the IASC Foundation Education materials could in error be mistaken for an official IASB-endorsed interpretation of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs)
Adopting the logo will enhance the opportunity of the IASC Foundation to expand its education activities. The IASC Foundation Education brand will be launched on September 30, 2006.
The IASC Foundation is the oversight body of the International Accounting Standard Board (IASB). The IASC Foundation, through the IASB, is committed to developing, in the public interest, a single set of high quality, global accounting standards that require transparent and comparable information in general purpose financial statement.
