Abu-Ghazaleh “ This is the second Global Compact Center to be inaugurated in the Arab world after Cairo,”
NEW YORK -- Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh , Vice Chair of the UN Global Compact (GC), announced on November 1, 2007 the launch of the Global Compact Centers in Amman and Cairo during the opening meetings of the Global Compact Board of Directors by the UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon. 
In his speech, Abu-Ghazaleh stressed on the achievements of the Global Compact and the role it plays in strengthening relationship between the United Nations, civil society and the business community.
“This is the second Global Compact Center to be inaugurated after the first one in Cairo,” Abu-Ghazaleh said.
He added that the plans to establish seven other centers in the Arab countries will be finalized in the near future.
The Global Compact Center in Amman was inaugurated October 29, 2007 under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah.
Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh chaired the sessions with the presence of the Global Compact members as well as the leaders of the business community, civil society, businesses unions, human rights and international anti-corruption bodies.
