Abu-Ghazaleh, Al-Dardari Discuss Cooperation and Capacity Building



Both parties discussed mutual cooperation in addition to the role which TAGorg would play in serving the Syrian economy

DAMASCUS --- June 15, 2008 --- Chairman and CEO of the Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGorg), Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh discussed during his visit last week to Damascus with the Syrian Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Dr. Abdullah Al-Dardari several key issues and future projects.

During their meeting, they stressed the significance of mutual cooperation in addition to the role which TAGorg would play in serving the Syrian economy .

It was agreed that TAGorg, through its Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Academies, would provide its expertise in programs the government seeks to execute in the field(s) of capacity-building and development of human resources in the public sector.

Further, it was decided that TAGorg would offer consultation and contribute to organizing productive institutions and sectors in relation to Intellectual Property concepts; rights and merits, through Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP). The purpose of this is to improve the economy and the investment conditions in the country.

Also, both parties tackled the issue of establishing a smart village, which would include offices for serving the business sector, in addition to a media village through Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Capital Services.

In other news, Abu-Ghazaleh met on Monday with Dr. Wael Mualla, president of the Damascus University. The meeting, which was attended by a number of TAGorg’s executive directors, addressed aspects of cooperation between the Organization and the University in various scholarly and professional fields. Additionally, the creation of a Talal Abu-Ghazaleh College of Business branch at the University was investigated, which would offer the Masters degree in Intellectual Property, International Accounting, Quality Assurance and other fields.
