The UN General- Secretary will be granted the Excellence and Civilization Trophy in December 2008 for building global peace and security
AMMAN – The Encyclopedia of Excellence and Civilization Committee announced today that the UN General Secretary, Mr. Ban Ki-moon, has been chosen as a recipient of the Civilization and Distinction Encyclopedia Award 2008.

Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the Encyclopedia of Excellence and Civilization Committee, met with Mr. Luc Stevens, UN Resident Coordinator of Jordan and presented him with an official letter to be handed to the UN General Secretary.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Osama Touri, the Encyclopedia's Executive Director.
The UN General- Secretary will be granted the Excellence and Civilization Trophy in December 2008 for building global peace and security, supporting needy and poor communities, and working towards bridging the gap between developing and advanced nations.
The Encyclopedia of Excellence and Civilization Award aims at honoring distinguished individuals in various fields around the world.
