IASB Trustees Appoint Zhang-Wei Guo and Reappoint John Smith to IASB

Philip A. Laskaway the Chairman of the International Standards Board Trustees  (IASB) announced on November 6, 2006, the appointment of Zhang-Wei Guo, Chief Accountant and Director General of the Department of International Affairs of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC).

Wei Guo will join the IASB as a full-time member on 1 July 2007 for a five-year renewable term. Wei Guo has been actively involved in accounting standard setting and implementation issues and auditor oversight.

The Trustees have also reappointed John Smith, currently a part-time member, to a full-time position for a second five-year term, beginning on 1 July 2007.


Laskaway the Chairman of IASB Trustees, expressed his delight with the appointment of Wei Guo and Smith; He believes that both of them will make valuable contributions to the IASB.
